How to Hit the Perfect Bandeja Shot in Padel

March 16, 20261 min read

What Is a Bandeja?

The bandeja is a controlled, sliced overhead unique to padel that keeps your team at the net while pushing opponents back.

When to Use It

Use the bandeja when a lob is too high or deep for a regular smash. It's your default response to most lobs.

The Grip

Use a continental grip for the slice spin essential for an effective bandeja.

Body Position

Turn sideways to the ball, similar to a throwing position. Weight starts on back foot and transfers forward.

The Swing

Swing at about 60-70% power. The racket path goes high to low, brushing under the ball to create slice spin.

Placement

Aim for the side of the court near the glass wall. Avoid hitting to the center.

Common Mistakes

Hitting too hard is the number one error. The bandeja is about placement and spin, not power.
