Padel Etiquette Guide: The Complete Do's and Don'ts
Before the Match
Be on time — arriving late eats into everyone's playing time. Introduce yourself to new playing partners.
During Warm-Up
Hit balls cooperatively, not competitively. Don't smash during warm-up unless everyone agrees.
Line Calls
Be honest. If you're not sure, the ball is in. Giving opponents the benefit of the doubt is standard padel culture.
Ball Retrieval
When a ball rolls onto your court from an adjacent game, stop play and return it. Roll balls gently, don't throw them.
Scoring Communication
The server should call the score before each point, loudly enough for all four players to hear.
Court Behavior
Don't throw your racket. Don't blame your partner. Don't celebrate your opponent's mistakes.
Post-Match
Shake hands at the net after every match. Clear the court promptly for the next group.
Phone Usage
Keep your phone off court or on silent. Taking calls mid-match is disrespectful.
